Related Technical Instruction
Related Technical Instruction, Delivered Online
ITC Learning's online courses can support the related-instruction component of your apprenticeship program. Apprentices get consistent technical knowledge alongside the on-the-job learning and mentorship they're already getting.
Overview
What Is Related Technical Instruction?
Related technical instruction (RTI) is the classroom, online, or other instructional component of an apprenticeship program that teaches the technical and theoretical knowledge connected to an occupation. It works alongside on-the-job learning and mentorship, not in place of them.
Federal regulations recommend, but do not require, a minimum of 144 hours of related instruction for each year of apprenticeship. Program sponsors should confirm how related instruction is scheduled, measured, and credited under their program standards and with their Registration Agency.
How ITC Supports RTI
Deliver Consistent Technical Instruction
Support RTI
Assign structured online courses that build the technical knowledge connected to an apprentice's occupation.
Reinforce On-the-Job Learning
Connect classroom or online instruction to the tasks apprentices are learning on the job, rather than delivering it separately.
Standardize Training
Give every apprentice in your program access to the same technical content, regardless of location, shift, or mentor availability.
Track Progress
Monitor course completions, skills assessment results, post-test scores, and progress by individual, team, or location.
Training Coverage
Technical Foundations Across Industrial Disciplines
ITC's library covers technical foundations relevant to many industrial apprenticeship programs.
